At Little Lake Family Eye Care, we know your time is valuable—and so is your vision. That’s why we want to make sure your appointment goes as smoothly as possible. Whether it’s your first visit or a return checkup, knowing what to expect (and what to bring) can make your experience more efficient and comfortable.
Here’s everything you need to know to prepare for your visit with us in Barrie.
What to Bring to Your Appointment
To ensure we can provide the most comprehensive care, please bring the following:
- Your current glasses or contact lenses
- Sunglasses – especially if your exam may include dilation
- A list of any medications you’re currently taking
- Your health card
- Insurance information – which can be submitted ahead of time via the link in your pre-appointment email
You'll receive a confirmation email with a pre-registration form. Completing this form before your visit saves time and helps us keep things running smoothly.
Arriving on Time (But Not Too Early!)
We recommend arriving just a few minutes before your scheduled appointment. Our clinic is cozy and well-organized, but space is limited, so early arrivals may be asked to wait briefly before check-in.
When you arrive, here’s what the typical appointment looks like:
- Check-In at the front desk
- Pre-examination imaging and eye measurements by a technician
- Eye exam with your optometrist
- Possible dilation for a more in-depth retinal exam
- Optical or prescription discussion
- Booking follow-up care, if needed
Our team strives to keep wait times minimal while delivering thorough care.
Need a Same-Day Appointment? Call Us
While you can book standard appointments online, same-day visits must be made by phone due to limited availability. If your schedule is tight or you’re experiencing urgent symptoms, don’t hesitate to give us a call—we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
Parking Made Simple
We know parking can be stressful—especially in busy areas. That’s why Little Lake Family Eye Care provides two designated free parking spots exclusively for our patients:
- Right in front of the building entrance
- At the back of the building, against the wall
Both are clearly marked with “Little Lake Family Eye Care” signage, so you can park with confidence. These spaces are intended to make your visit as seamless as possible. Once you park, just head to the main entrance—we’re located on the ground floor and easy to spot through the glass walls.
Please note: While other parking may be available nearby, we recommend using our designated spots when possible.
Specialty Services Available
We offer more than just eye exams. Let us know in advance if you're interested in:
- Same-day contact lens fittings
- Myopia management for children, which includes an initial exam and follow-ups every 6 months
- Dry eye evaluations, which often require a return visit in 1–2 weeks
Mention your interest when booking or during your appointment and we’ll make sure you get the care you need.
Still Have Questions?
Many patients ask about the cost of exams and whether imaging is covered. While OHIP does not cover retinal imaging, your private insurance may. Our team is happy to check coverage for you and explain the benefits of each procedure.
With an average rating of 4.96 stars from over 380 reviews, we take pride in providing excellent care—and making every visit as easy and helpful as possible.
If you have any questions before your appointment or need to reschedule, feel free to reach out. We’re here to help every step of the way.
See you soon at Little Lake Family Eye Care in Barrie!
